May 6th, 2012 Doolittle Raiders Honored on 70th Anniversary of Legendary WWII Raid on Japan . . . by Ian Thompson of the Daily Republic
ALAMEDA, May 5th, 2012 — The most memorable part of Doolittle Raider Staff Sgt. David Thatcher’s attack on Kobe, Japan, back in April 1942 was that the B-25 he was in did not draw any fire as they dropped their bombs.
“I could not figure out why they did not shoot at us. It may have been that the Japanese thought they knew all the types of planes capable of attacking Japan from a carrier and did not think that a B-25 (a twin-engined bomber) could do that,” Thatcher said.

March 27th, 2011 Our Own Globemaster III . . . by Richard Rico of the Vacaville Reporter
We'll be hearing a lot about the Globemaster III and the Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum at Travis Air Force Base and in Solano cities in the months ahead. A long-discussed plan to move the Travis Air Museum from a vacated commissary on base to a new hall of honor outside the gate was uncorked in January.
Join the Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum as we partner with the USS Hornet in Alameda to honor famous aviation pioneer Jimmy Doolittle who was born in Alameda. His most legendary achievement was leading a daring WWII air raid on Japan in April 1942, seventy years ago. Members of his family, friends, crewmen from Hornet CV-8 and former AAF personnel who flew with LtCol Doolittle will be key guests. It's likely this is the last time any of the remaining five Doolittle Raiders will ever be in the Bay Area, so come out and cheer your heroes!
